Prairie Village

Prairie Village was built on farmland in the 1940s, to welcome home troops from World War II. The object was to create a community that would provide a great place for the people who served their country to settle down and raise families.

The town of Prairie Village was established by a fairly notable real estate developer by the name of Jesse Clyde Nichols. If the name J.C. Nichols doesn’t ring any bells, you will almost certainly have heard of his contributions around the Kansas City area. J.C. Nichols is best known for the development of the Country Club Plaza and the Country Club District in Kansas City.

It was almost 70 years ago that Prairie Village was first recognized by the National Association of Home Builders as being the best planned community in America. A lot can change over the course of 70 years, but Prairie Village is still a great place to settle down and raise your family. You don’t have to take our word for it.
